You may have noticed a change in appearance here at Ruby’s Reads. If you haven’t don’t worry about it. This whole thing is a work in progress anyway. I like to think I make improvements as much as I make changes.
First of all, Happy Thanksgiving! I love to cook, so this is one of my all-time favorite holidays. Though I suppose food is a part of all major holidays: latkes on Hanukkah, ham on Easter, fasting on Ramadan, etc. Anyway, the holiday means it’ll be a light week for reviews and it probably will be the same as we get closer to Private School Paranormals Week. Remember it? December 12-18. Author interviews, guest blogs, giveaways? I hope it all sounds familiar.
Monday I’ll be reviewing the third book in the Shadow Keepers Series: When Wicked Craves by J.K. Beck. This is volume I virtuously put off reading until I read the first two. Now, with When Blood Calls and When Pleasure Rules under my belt, I’m down to the nougaty center. So to speak.
Petra Lang is cursed never to love. One touch of her skin unleashes the vilest demons. Sentenced to death by the Shadow authorities, who fear she’ll turn her curse against them, Petra is rescued by vampire advocate Nicholas Montegue. As their bodies merge and transform into mist, Petra feels an erotic longing.
Nicholas risked his own life to save Petra, yet he knows he can never give in to the explosive attraction he feels for her. But the deep yearning they share tempts them. Together, they must find a way to lift the curse. For only a love this strong has the power to overcome such monstrous evil.
Tuesday I’ll review Halfway to the Grave, the first book in the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost. I was going to try to wait until the next New (Old) Series Week, but I couldn’t. I’ve heard too many good things about these books.
Flirting with the grave…
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father–the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.
In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner–are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her new found status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
On Wednesday, I’ll be doing my Waiting on Wednesday thing.
Thursday, you, me and the rest of the United States are going to have a great Turkey Day.
Friday is another Book Blogger Hop day. Sorry. This isn’t a very exciting week.
Saturday, I’ll cap off the week with a review of the hottest YA title on the blogosphere right now: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she’ll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters’ laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
See you tomorrow!
