Clock Rewinders on a Book Binge is where Tara @ 25 Hour Books and Amanda @ On a Book Bender shamelessly plug each other, share the fantastic posts, giveaways, or whatever else they’ve found and loved by other awesome bloggers (or authors!) during the week, and talk about the books they plan on reading in the coming week. Amanda and Tara have kindly allowed us to hang on to their coattails and participate in Clock Rewinders.
Ruby’s Reads Recap:
- Book Review: Transcendence by CJ Ormolulu: Reincarnated love isn’t all that, actually.
- Top Off Tuesday: A Man and His Baking Helmet
- Bookish Bundles: Teen Thrillers
- Ruby’s Reads Debate Team: Should Bloggers Respond to Comments? with @sprntrlsnark and @loganturner.
- Joint Review with @BookBender: Devil’s Gate by Thea Harrison: Sexin’, snakes, Seremela, shuddering, spider wyrs, and smokin’ chemistry.
Ruby’s Reads News:
- Last Sunday, I tweeted an open call for WP.org advice, and both @BookBender and @Jaediasrantpage answered with some great advice. Hannah directed me to a post about SEO on Mission to Read, and Amanda walked me through adding SEO to my blog posts via the Yoast plugin. Thanks to both!
- I need some more volunteers for upcoming Ruby’s Reads debates. Let me know if you would be interested in debating in September or later. Topics are flexible and open.
Around the blogosphere:
- Lisa Burstein (Pretty Amy) wrote a love letter to bloggers. It was a welcome relief after last week’s #ARCGate brouhaha.
- Rachel Vincent (Soul Screamers, Shifters series, and Blood Bound) wrote a step-by-step guide to understanding book piracy. She wants you to read it even if you already think you know what it is.
- Shelf Awareness had a link to an article on “Nurturing Your Jane Austen Obsession.” It has a big list of Jane Austen things to purchase, some cool and some silly.
- Unfortunately, the same article linked to this one: “How Kim Kardashian is Like a Modern Day Jane Austen Heroine,” which is just BLASPHEMIC, OFFENSIVE AND UTTERLY WRONG. I might have made up the word “blasphemic.” I’m not sure.
- Scholastic’s On Our Minds blog is starting a series of posts called “Bookstore Tourists.” The first one is about Bunch of Grapes on Martha’s Vineyard. Here’s hoping for some other new discoveries.
- Ilona Andrews wrote a guest post on Thea Harrison’s blog about Wallpaper Historicals. THERE’S ALSO A GUNMETAL MAGIC GIVEAWAY!
- The eternally awesome Stacia Kane doesn’t need you to avenge her.
Other fun-ness:
I got a kitty!!
Search Terms/Spam:
- time travel book a man wish on a shooting star for love and he get it but she from the future and the fairy that brought her are taking her back–Um…
- ultramatic vibratory tumbler–I’m both confused about what this is…and not.
- From gratis sex date: Nice blog over here! I’ll just wanna thank you for that. If you like to visit my website cherk out: sexdate thanks for visiting!–Um, yeah, so I didn’t “cherk” out your website. Sorry about that.
Books, I listen to them:
Forget Atticus. I’m all about Oberon. Books, I read them:
It’s no secret that I love Sarah Rees Brennan, so I fully expected to enjoy this one. I’m not quite finished yet, but I have pages marked up with the bits that made me laugh out loud. To be shared later…Books, I Got Some:
From Christen (Goldilox and the Three Weres), I got:
Team Human was kind of a bonus RAK. Thanks, Christen!
Have a fawesome week, everyone!

Congrats on the new kitty! What’s it’s name?
Clementine. But I haven’t gotten used to it yet, so I just call her “Kitty” most of the time.
A kitty! Very cute!
She is adorable but very tiny. I’m constantly afraid of losing her to some nook or cranny. So far, she’s always shown up in the end. But it’s only been two days.
I’ve been getting the weirdest spam lately, too! Huh. KK having any relation to anything literary (much less Jane Austen) is most definitely blasphemic! *shudder* can’t believe someone thought so.
CUTE KITTEH!
Maybe the spambots are out for vengence? We’re completely on the same wavelength re:KK. She’s the epitome of lame.
Thanks!
I’m going to listen to the audiobook to Tricked soon. Love this series. I loved the Morrigan scene in Hexed so much. I giggled & may have even spewed.
Are you WP.org now? I want to make the change, but have little computer patience. Yes, I’m a wuss. Were you WP or blogger to being with?
My library system doesn’t have any of the audiobooks beyond Hexed, so I don’t know when I’ll get to the other books. And, according to Small, book three was when she started to lose interest. And, of course, since Small and I are such kindred spirits, this may happen to me, too. Or, because I’m easily suggestible.
In the wee dawn hours of Ruby’s Reads I was on WP.com. Then I switched to Blogger. Now I’m on WP.org. I can’t remember much about WP.com, but I do know that it wasn’t as awe-tacular as WP.org. The plugins alone are worth it. And, um, I paid someone to make the switch for me. Hallelujah.
Oh, I love your kitty! I NEED to get one. Every bookworm needs a kitty.
And, um, interesting search terms. O_o What a load of weirdos.
Agreed. Except I’m suffering from first time pet owner anxiety. She’s so small. I’m afraid to leave the house. Has she used the litter box? That kind of stuff.
I take a kind of perverse pride in my bizarro search terms. I don’t know what I did to deserve them, but anything for a laugh, right?
KITTY!!!!!!!!!!
Off to read the RV post…
Oh, yeah, I should’ve known you’d head off to read that one! Let me know what you think. I still find it hard to believe that people could unknowingly participate in e-piracy.
Congrats on the kitty! She looks a lot like my Princess (http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2641/4307718588_0ccd57edaa.jpg). Torties are the best.
Thank you! She’s a mischievous ball of fur, and I love her.
KITTEH!!!!! I adore kitties. I want to huggle yours! SO CUTE!!!!
lol
Thank you! (I kind of got her so I could have a kitty to huggle all I wanted–no lie!)
OMG! You finally found a kitty! Yay!
It took forever! I practically camped out at the Human Society. I think they probably gave her to me just to get rid of me.
You did it! You did it! It being you got the kitty!!! A thousand awwwwwssss upon you and your adorable little kitty. Now, use your princess magic to make her stay tiny forever
PRINCESS LINK!!!!
For YEARS!!! I’ve talked about inventing some kind of “stay small juice” for kitties. Years. Too bad I’m not much of a scientist, much less a mad one. Though I did once look up pygmy cats–they have too many health issues for the owning of one to be humane.
Clementine wants you to know that she’s hoping your puppy (when you get it) can join us in a four-way Princess Link network.
