Welcome to a new feature at Ruby’s Reads!
I’m calling the feature “Book Scout” because its primary function is helping you find those long-lost books whose titles you can’t remember! If you’re anything like me, you come across fifty-odd books in a day and, while I try to add every title I see to my Goodreads list, I don’t always manage to do so. Not that adding them to Goodreads is a guarantee that I’ll be able to locate the book again! My bookshelves are so ginormous that I can’t remember all the details of the many, many (many) books I want to read (or have read, or started and abandoned) and I often have trouble weeding through the books to find the one I’m looking for. Thus, Book Scout was born!
I’ll kick off this week with a book that’s been driving me batty, but I’m inviting you guys to submit your own descriptions so the bookish community can help you locate that elusive title. There’s a Googledoc form and everything! Please feel free to submit as many queries as you wish–and invite your friends to do so, too! A warning:
- No plot too vague, no character too nebulous, no setting too indefinite should prevent you from asking for help in locating your long-lost book. However, the more detail, the better we can help you. Include as much detail as you can think of–it may be the smallest of things that sparks the memory!
Book Scout posts will go up on Wednesdays, this week being the exception.
The book Ruby’s looking for:
Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for a YA title that, I think, has a boarding school setting. I don’t remember if there’s a paranormal element. At first, I thought it was The Nightmare Affair, but it’s definitely not. I think it may have come out at around the same time, though. All I really remember about the plot is that the main character was on the younger side (a high school freshman, maybe?) and her love interest was a senior. I remember reading a blogger’s review where the age difference was commented upon. Vague, I know, but I’m hoping you guys might have a clue…?
